Lennox furnace repair in Houston typically runs $150 – $700 depending on the failed part, and most jobs are completed the same day we diagnose them. As an independent Lennox service provider, we repair all major Lennox furnace lines including the Elite, Merit, and Dave Lennox Signature Series. You’ll get a written price before any work starts, and every repair carries a full-year written guarantee. If your Lennox furnace is acting up in Houston, call (903) 494-7686 and you’ll reach a live person, not a voicemail tree.
This page is for Houston homeowners who own a Lennox furnace and want straight answers: what breaks, what it costs, and who to call. Marco Benitez and our crew have worked on hundreds of Lennox systems across Houston, from Memorial to Katy to the Energy Corridor. We know which Lennox models fail in which ways, and we fix them by the book.
How Lennox Products Fail – and How We Fix Them
- Merit Series ML193 pressure switch faults. The ML193 is the most common Lennox furnace we see in Houston starter homes and townhomes. Its pressure switch line runs close to the inducer housing, and in humid Houston winters the venting can condense enough to trip the switch intermittently. Homeowners report the furnace firing, then locking out an hour later. We test the switch with a manometer, not just a continuity meter, so we replace the switch only when it’s actually bad.
- Elite Series EL296V variable-speed blower motor failures. The EL296V is a high-efficiency two-stage furnace with a variable-speed ECM blower motor. When that motor’s control module fails, the motor either runs at full speed constantly or won’t ramp up at all. In Houston we see this more often in homes near the coast where voltage sags from storms are common. We carry OEM Lennox control modules for the EL296V line and can usually restore proper staging without replacing the entire motor assembly, which saves hundreds.
- Dave Lennox Signature SLP98 ignitor wear. The SLP98 is Lennox’s flagship modulating furnace, and its silicon nitride ignitor runs hot by design. After four to six heating seasons, that ignitor can crack and fail to light. The furnace will go through its start sequence, you’ll hear the inducer spin up, but no flame. We replace the ignitor with the OEM Lennox part, not a universal aftermarket piece that runs at a different resistance and can burn out the control board.
- Merit Series ML180 limit switch cycling. The ML180 is an 80% AFUE single-stage furnace, common in older Houston ranch homes. When the blower wheel loads up with dust or the filter’s been ignored, the high-limit switch opens mid-cycle and the furnace shuts down, then restarts, then shuts down again. Homeowners think it’s the thermostat. It’s almost always airflow. We pull the blower wheel, clean it properly, check static pressure, and verify the limit switch opens and closes at spec.
- Elite Series EL195 gas valve solenoid degradation. The EL195 gas valve’s solenoids are sensitive to the slightly higher moisture content we get in Houston natural gas compared to drier climates. Over time the valve gets lazy: the furnace lights intermittently, or the burners drop out after a few minutes. We test inlet and outlet gas pressure on site, confirm the valve’s actually failing, and replace with an OEM Lennox valve so the burners fire at factory spec.

Our Lennox Furnace Repair Process
Here’s exactly what happens when you call us about a Lennox furnace in Houston:
- 1
You call (903) 494-7686. A live person answers, 24/7. We get your address, your Lennox model number if you have it, and what the furnace is doing wrong.
- 2
We show up in the window we gave you. Our tech arrives in a marked truck, in uniform, background-checked. You know who’s walking up your driveway before they ring the bell.
- 3
We run a full diagnostic on the Lennox. We don’t guess. We test the ignition sequence, inducer motor, gas pressure, flame sensor, limit circuit, and control board. You get told what’s broken, what’s not, and what the options are.
- 4
You get a written price first. No work happens until you’ve seen the number on paper and agreed to it. The price doesn’t shift at the door, ever.
- 5
We fix it right. We use OEM Lennox parts when the warranty or system age calls for it, and quality aftermarket only when it genuinely makes sense. If you’re in the Energy Corridor or anywhere else in Houston, we explain which we’re using and why before we install it.
- 6
We test, clean up, and guarantee it. We run the furnace through full cycles after the repair, verify temperature rise, check venting, and leave the space cleaner than we found it. You get a written guarantee covering the repair for a full year. If it fails in that time, we return at no charge.

AfterWhat Lennox Furnace Repair Costs in Houston
Most Lennox furnace repairs in Houston land between $150 and $700, depending on the part that failed and how long the job takes. Here’s the breakdown by common scenario:
- Flame sensor cleaning or replacement: $150 – $250. The most common no-heat call we get on Lennox furnaces in Houston. A dirty flame sensor can’t prove the burners lit, so the board shuts the gas off.
- Ignitor replacement: $250 – $400. Silicon nitride ignitors on the Merit and Signature lines crack after years of heat cycling. OEM replacement is the right call here.
- Pressure switch replacement: $200 – $350. When the switch tests bad under manometer load, we swap it. When it tests good, we don’t charge you for a part you don’t need.
- Gas valve replacement: $400 – $700. The most expensive common repair, and the one most often misdiagnosed. We confirm it’s the valve before we quote it.
- Blower motor or control module: $350 – $650. Variable-speed ECM motors and their modules cost more than single-speed PSC motors. The EL296V and SLP98 use ECM motors; we carry the OEM modules.
What moves the price: the part itself, whether the furnace uses OEM or aftermarket components, and how long the repair takes. What doesn’t move the price: our mood, your zip code, or how cold it is outside. You’ll know the number before we start. Call (903) 494-7686 for a free estimate on your specific Lennox unit.
Why Houston Homeowners Call Dalton Heating & Air Houston for Lennox Work
Most Houston homeowners don’t need a “Lennox specialist” badge. They need a tech who actually knows what fails on Lennox equipment and doesn’t waste their time and money swapping parts on a hunch. That’s the job. Marco Benitez has been doing this work for the better part of two decades, and he’s spent years of that time on Lennox systems in Houston homes, including plenty out near the Energy Corridor where summer heat loads push older furnaces hard even when they’re just moving air. Tell me what the system is doing, and I’ll tell you what it needs – not what sells.
Our company operates under the Garrison Standard. That means every repair gets a written price before work starts, every repair carries a written guarantee for a full year, and if the repair fails within that year, we come back at no charge. No fine print. No “that part wasn’t covered.” We also carry factory training on Carrier and Trane, so if your home has a mixed system, one crew handles it.
FAQs
No. As long as the repair uses parts that meet Lennox’s specifications and the work is done by a licensed HVAC technician, your Lennox manufacturer warranty stays intact. We document every repair with part numbers and test results so you have a clear record if you ever need to file a warranty claim. Dalton Heating & Air Houston is an independent Lennox service provider, not an authorized Lennox dealer, but our diagnostic and repair work meets or exceeds factory service standards.
In most cases, yes. We keep common OEM Lennox parts on the truck: ignitors, flame sensors, pressure switches, and control boards for the Merit and Elite lines. For less common Signature Series parts, our Houston-area Lennox parts distributors usually have same-day availability. If a part has to be ordered, we tell you before we start and you’ll know the full price and timeline in writing before any work begins. Call (903) 494-7686 and we’ll check availability for your specific model.
If the repair costs less than a third of the replacement price and the furnace is under 15 years old, repair usually makes sense. Lennox furnaces in Houston often last 15 – 20 years because our heating season is short. The real deciding factors are heat exchanger condition, overall system age, and whether the unit’s efficiency still fits your energy costs. We’ll tell you honestly if a repair is throwing money at a dying unit. If replacement does make sense, a new high-efficiency Lennox or another brand we carry can be installed on a set date with a written fixed price.
The most common cause on Lennox furnaces in Houston is a dirty flame sensor or a failing limit switch. The flame sensor can’t confirm the burners lit, so the board shuts the gas valve. A limit switch that opens at the wrong temperature does the same thing. Both are diagnosed with specific tests on the actual part, not a guess. Call (903) 494-7686 and we’ll pinpoint it, usually the same day.
Same-day service is available for most Houston neighborhoods, including Memorial, Katy, the Heights, and the Energy Corridor. We don’t put you in a callback queue. You speak to a live person when you call (903) 494-7686, and we give you a real arrival window you can plan around.
